From the Author
Mark Twain detested political cant and hypocrisy. Lord alone knows what he would say about today's "vultures that now infest the filthy den called Congress."
Whether you vote Democratic or Republican / GOP, this I believe is a book on political commentary and political quotes that will have you thinking - 'Some things never change.'

It is not just US Senators and Congressmen that Twain calls out. He despised King Leopold of Belgium because of the atrocities he generated in the Congo. Czar Alexander III did not escape his venom either.

He did have some faith in American Politics and Presidents reserving praise for Ulysses S. Grant, Abraham Lincoln and George Washington.
It doesn't matter what side of the political aisle you are on, whether you are Democrat or Republican, left-wing, snow-flake or just plain frustrated with today's political discourse, this book featuring Mark Twain's political quotes is one that will have you smiling and intrigued as to how little has changed.
This was a fun book to research and compile. I hope you enjoy it.

From the Back Cover
"Suppose you were an idiot. And suppose you were a member of Congress. But I repeat myself."
.
Mark Twain did not have a very high opinion of politicians and people in power:

"Why it is telegraphed all over the country and commented on as something wonderful if a Congressman votes honestly and Unselfishly."
"Theodore (Roosevelt) the man is sane; in fairness we ought to keep in mind that Theodore as statesman and politician is insane and irresponsible."
Russian Czar Alexander III "resolved to break (the peoples' spirit) by deliberately submitting them to a regime of unheard of brutality and degradation."
"Nero, Caligula, Attila, Torquemeda, Genghis Khan and such killers of men are mere amateurs beside Leopold, the pirate King of Belgium."

About the Author
Conor Cunneen (IrishmanSpeaks) is an Irishman happily exiled in Chicago where he says the Guinness is good, the natives are friendly and he has been force fed more corned beef and green beer than he ever had in Ireland.
This is the second book Conor has written about his fave author. As a professional speaker whose mission is to Improve People, Performance and Productivity - with a Smile, he has learned quite a bit from studying the man born Samuel Langhorne Clemens. Indeed he has written a book on the top - What Mark Twain Learned Me 'bout Public Speakin - also available here on Amazon.
